About

I am a freelance copyeditor and proofreader, based in Mid Sussex, with a background in law and government.

I became an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) – its highest level – in 2020. This recognises my high level of training and experience, not to mention happy clients. I have undertaken formal training in proofreading, copyediting, web editing, and the use of grammar, and I am committed to ongoing professional development, keeping abreast of developments in both the editing and legal worlds.

My recent experience includes working on legal and social science books for Oxford University Press, Routledge, the University of Law, and Edward Elgar, as well as copyediting business material and proofreading student dissertations.

During my previous career as a government policy official, I copyedited or proof-edited a wide range of documents and publications.

My high standards and interest in justice issues go beyond the quality and subject area of my work. I am committed to running my business in a socially responsible way – such as paying fair tax, treating customers and suppliers well, and sourcing ethically – and received Good Business Charter accreditation in 2021. If you would like to know more, or provide feedback, please get in touch – I would love to hear from you.
